What's a Riftbound Champion Deck?

A Riftbound Champion Deck is a preconstructed, ready-to-play deck built around a single League of Legends Champion. Each deck is tournament-legal, comes with everything you need (cards, Runes, rules sheet) and is designed to play out of the box without any deckbuilding or proxy work. Champion Decks are the fastest way to start playing Riftbound, and the cheapest way to learn the game without committing to sealed booster boxes.

Showdown Decks and Starter Sets

Two-player products built so you and a friend can sit down and play the same night:

• Zed vs Shen Showdown Deck (Vendetta): a head-to-head two-deck set built around the rivalry of Zed and Shen. Open the box, pick a side, play.
• Proving Grounds (Origins): the official Riftbound 2-player starter set. Includes two preconstructed decks, a rules walkthrough, Runes and everything else needed to teach the game from zero.

How to pick a Champion Deck

If you're a League of Legends player, pick the Champion you main or enjoy watching. If you're new to LoL but want to try Riftbound, pick by set: Origins (Jinx, Lee Sin, Viktor) is the easiest entry point because the card pool is smallest, while Unleashed and Spiritforged add more cards and Champion interactions to learn.

If you and a friend are starting from scratch, the Proving Grounds 2-player starter or the Zed vs Shen Showdown Deck is the better entry point. Both come with two ready decks that play against each other from the first game.

Champion Deck FAQ

Are Champion Decks tournament-legal?
Yes. Every Champion Deck and Showdown Deck is tournament-legal in Riftbound's standard format. The cards are the same paper stock and rarity treatment as the equivalent booster pulls.

Can I play a Champion Deck straight out of the box?
Yes. Each deck is preconstructed, comes with its own Runes, and is ready to play with no proxies, sleeves or deckbuilding required.

What's the difference between a Champion Deck and a Showdown Deck?
A Champion Deck is one preconstructed deck for one player. A Showdown Deck contains two preconstructed decks designed to play against each other (like the Zed vs Shen set from Vendetta).

Do I need to buy boosters to play?
No. Champion Decks are designed to play as-is. Booster Boxes are for collectors, deck customisation and drafting.

Should I start with Origins or a newer set?
Most new players start with an Origins Champion Deck because it's the launch set and the card pool is smallest. From there you can pick up Unleashed, Spiritforged or Vendetta to expand your card pool.
