Riftbound (League of Legends TCG): How to Start in Australia
Share
Riftbound is the League of Legends trading card game from Riot Games. You build a deck around a champion legend, then send units and spells to take control of battlefields and score points. It launched in English in October 2025 and is available in Australia. This guide covers how a game works, what you need, and how to start. Last updated 9 June 2026.
What is Riftbound?
Riftbound is a card game for two to four players set in the League of Legends universe. You pick a champion, build a deck in that champion's colours, and battle to hold the map. It plays as a fast, board-focused game rather than a pure damage race, so position matters as much as raw power.
How a game of Riftbound works
- Build around a champion. Your champion legend sets your deck's colours and the champion you field. A constructed deck runs at least 40 cards in the main deck plus a 12-card rune deck for resources.
- Spend runes. Each turn you draw runes into your resource area. Runes pay for units, spells and gear.
- Fight for battlefields. You move units onto battlefields and hold them. Holding a battlefield into your next turn scores points.
- Win on points. First to 8 points wins a one-on-one game, or 11 in 2v2. Your winning point has to come from holding or conquering a battlefield, not just drawing.
