Disney Lorcana is a two-player trading card game by Ravensburger where you play as an Illumineer, summon Disney characters called glimmers, and race to collect 20 lore before your opponent. What is Disney Lorcana?

Lorcana is a duel between two Illumineers, each commanding a deck of Disney and Pixar characters reimagined as glimmers. You build a 60-card deck in up to two of the six ink colours, then play characters and race to gather lore. The Disney theme makes it approachable, while the ink and questing systems give it real depth.

How to play, step by step

1. Aim for 20 lore. The first player to reach 20 lore wins. You gain lore mainly by sending characters on quests.
2. Build your inkwell. Once per turn you can put a card into your inkwell face down. Inkwell cards are your resources, used to pay for everything you play.
3. Play characters, items and actions. Spend ink to bring glimmers into play, drop items, or fire off action and song cards.
4. Quest for lore. Tap a character to quest and gain the lore shown on the card. Characters cannot quest the turn they arrive unless they have Rush or a similar ability.
5. Challenge to slow your opponent. Send a ready character to challenge an exerted enemy character, trading damage to remove blockers from the board.

The card types and ink colours

Lorcana has four card types: Characters that quest and challenge, Items that give ongoing effects, Actions (including Songs) for one-off effects, and Locations that hold characters and can earn lore. Every card belongs to one of six inks: Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Steel. A deck uses up to two inks, which is the first big choice a new player makes.
